Lorri | Tennessee Center for Decision-Making Support

Lorri

I was born with cerebral palsy but my mind works just fine. The first 35 years of my life my mom made all decisions for me, so I did not get to make many decisions for myself.  I really wish I could have made decisions like staying in college, having pets, where to go to church, etc. I spent a lot of time at home and in a day care that was not a good fit for me.

With help from the Center for Independent Living, I decided to go back to college and get more control over my life. Today, I make my own decisions with the help of my circle of support.  I love supported decision-making!
